I have had the same problems with my 1999 4x4 4.0l with the number 26 fuse blowing, my problem was a small relay box located under the dash in a small black box located close to the firewall close to the radio.
The truck is a 1996 4x4 4.0l. Both the engine bay fuse box and the fuse box on the right passenger side kickpanel diagrams will do. It would seem that the later oct 05, 2009in the fuse box of my ford ranger 1996 the 15 amp fuse second top right corner of the fuse box blows, every time i put a new fuse in im thinking.
